Dear Parents,

It’s finally here! The week of the field trip. The students have been counting the days in anticipation. As I stated last week, I would like the children in one of their gym t shirts. Either one would be fine. They may wear jean or shorts (school appropriate). Students should have a bag lunch to bring. I will ask the students not bring electronics on the trip. We will have a movie on the bus for entertainment. Please make sure you arrive at the school before 8 a.m.

We are so close to the end of the year and the end of our last ELA unit.  The students are becoming very proficient in finding facts in their reading. Our reading has become more fluent as we are practicing our newest sounds and how to read to the punctuation.

The first graders have been working on map skills in Social Studies. This week they will create a map of their bedrooms. They must include a map key with symbols. The worksheet will go home on Monday.

Math Module 5 is coming to an end. We are finishing up telling time to the half hour. We will have our End of Module Assessment this week. The review sheets will go home Monday.

The students work in teams this past week and completed Saint posters. They will be hung in the classroom. I will take pictures and post them on the webpage for everyone to see. They had to work together and learn to listen to each other’s ideas. With some guidance, it was a success.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fiore
